Describe 2 highlights that caught your attention during the Online Database presentations.

1. I really though Alycea's information on Tumble Books was good. I know that the elementary schools in my district use Tumble Books, but the middle school does not. I think I'll take a look at the graphic novels for lower level reading students if I can get the information through Mead Public Library.

2. I liked Brian's review of BrainPop. I have used BrainPop in the social studies classroom when I taught and I loved it. Our district does not purchase this, but we just talked about possibly purchasing it at the last meeting that we had. I think it is a good tool for students and teachers in both the elemantary and middle school.

I thought all of the databases were really interesting. I thought that Mary Ann's was really neat for people wanted to learn different languages and I though Stacey had a great resource for current/sensitive topics.

(Louis Question) - How has our class and this week’s activities effected you in your professional life? Discuss two things that you have learned about this week.

1. This weeks class has helped me realize the importance of the classmates I have. I learn so much from everyone in this class each week. The databases and resources that are shared are great.

2. I really would like to look more in to a couple of the databases that were shared, especially the foreign language one shared by Mary Ann and I would also like to look in to the cost of Brain Pop.

  1. I have used BrainPop too. The kids love it, especially the quiz (weird). I always made it a competition between the classes. I would like to look at the ESL version to see what it has to offer.

  2. I also really liked Mary Ann's database presentation. I thought it was such a neat way for people to learn another language. It all seemed really laid out well and very easy to navigate.

  3. I feel that Brainpop is also an excellent choice. I have used it a few times, but never to its entirety.

  4. I agree with you about the power of the PLN. Regarding that, I posted the link on our Lessons tab for the WEMTA list-serv. The information resides on the DPI website because it has become a joint venture between DPI and WEMTA.
