What item do you beleive you can incorporate form this class into your professional or personal life and how will you ensure that you achieve the goal of incorporating it. If you can discuss it in terms of being a SMART goal for incorporating.

S - Provideseveral mini in-service opportunities for staff members at my school using a variety of different web tools. I would like to work with about 4 to 5 staff members at a time to help show them how to incorporate a specific tool into their class.

M - I can prove that it is done by showing the teachers that I worked with as well as the tools that they were taught.

A -I definitely have the resources to do this, time is the question. Part of the reason that I am making this a year long goal is because I think I will be able to use time when we have teacher in-service days for this, but I may also have to use prep time that the teachers have or I may be able to get hours during the school day when teachers can get substitutes so that they can have some time for in-service during the school day.

R - I don't know that I will be able to touch every single staff member, I would like to focus on two groups, first are teachers who are doing very little technology wise on their own. I would like to help them feel more comfortable technology and have them incorporate at least one tool into their teaching. After that group I would like to focus on the teachers who really want to do things with technology, but they just don't know what to do or where to look. I think that if I focus on these two groups I will have given a great deal of technological wealth to the staff in my building and then we can continue to make it grow from there.

T - Throughout the remainder of the school year and into next school year. (Within a years time)

What did we do this week that you can apply in your school or job and how might you use it?

I think that I learned a lot of useful things that I can use at my job this week. I have never used eyejot before, but I found that really easy to use and embedded one into my wiki. Also, looking at different web tools was great. I'm always looking for new tools to share with my teachers, but there is never enough time to experiment with them, so this gave me the opportunity to really look at some of these tools. I found www.picfull.com and www.storybird.com to be two of my favorites. I have some ideas on how I can use these with my teachers. I know that many teachers are upset that picnik will no longer be available, so when I saw picfull I thought that this would be a great alternative, since it is so easy-to-use. Storybird is a tool that I will be sharing with the language arts, spanish, and special education teachers. I see so many opportunities for students to express themselves and write with this program.

I really liked the site www.go2web20.net because there were so many resources to view and because it was a search engine for those tools as well. What a great resource that I am able to share with my staff.

What did we do this week that you can apply in your school or job and how might you use it?

This week I have learned many things that will help me with my occupation. To start with I have found social bookmarking really fun and helpful. There have been a few websites this week that I have come across that I have bookmarked so I can read later. The reason I like social bookmarking so much is because I can catalog websites to look at later and hopefully I will. This week was a good reminder of how useful screencasts can be. I have used these in the past, but of course like most things I get busy and don't get around to creating many. Next week I may be out of school for jury duty a couple of days, so I decided to make screencasts for students to view on those days. This way I’m still at school, even when I’m not. Also, I'm going to work on creating some screencasts to embed in my wiki, so that students will always have help available. Another thing we did this week that can apply at work is the wiki I have started to create. I am using wikispaces and I have dabbled with this before and then never did much with it. Well, now I have created one for my library. I have found wikispaces very easy-to-use this time around and think it will be really fun to have students and other teachers add things to the wiki as well. Lastly, I found it rather ironic that on Friday this week a teacher was in the library and the students had a choice on what they could do for a project and I had five or six groups create podcasts and another five or six groups create videos, so the information from class this week really could not have come at a better time. Overall, I think everything we did this week has helped me.

What did we do this week that you can apply in your school or job and how might you use it?

This week we did several things that I will use not only in my professional life, but in my personal life as well. I have to say that I wasn't totally sold on RSS feeds after reading the chapter in the book, but once I actually created an account and started subscribing to feeds my feelings changed. I think they are fabulous. I was able to set up feed for my professional use and I set up some feeds for my personal use. It is my goal to look at them daily so that I can benefit from the information that I'm receiving. I like the fact that I can be logged in to one site to find information that can help me, and yes I can see how time will be saved. I plan on sharing this with my staff when we do a technology sharing day. I don't think many people are familiar with it, but I think many staff members would find it useful.

I also found the tutorial on google sites interesting and actually started setting up site. It was very easy to do and I thought I may make a library site where I can include help sheets and tips for students, so that they always have access to help if they need it.

The photo sharing was really fun. I have had a Shutterfly account for years, but I have never used the share feature. I found that creating a website to share was very easy and it looks really nice. I am able to share not only my photos, but videos, and photo books that I have made. It also has a blogging feature that I thought was neat and a calendar. I will continue to use this with my family and I have thought of how I could use it at work. I've have embedded a couple of photos on this blog as well. One of the ideas I had was to create a Battle of the Books website. As the students go through the process we take pictures and video, so this would be a neat place to post those as well as have the students blog their experience. Overall, I found this week very helpful and I've learned about a lot of new tools that I can use.

What did we do this week that you can apply in your school or job and how might you use it?

There were several things that we did this week that I can apply to my job. First of all I think it was helpful to learn more about social networking and how it may not be as bad for schools to use as most people think. The reason this was helpful is because this will most likely come up in the near future and I feel that I have a better idea of the advantages that social networking in schools can offer. I also think that setting up a Twitter account can help me in my job. I am following WEMTA as well as a few others that have sent information about Web 2.0 tools. A few of the tweets have given me information that I can use in my library and share with other teachers, so I think the Twitter account will be helpful in finding new technology information, and hopefully, I'll be able to share some information with others as well. Another helpful topic was the video we watched about Wiki's. This video was so helpful because it was very clear in explaining what a wiki is. I think this video will help me show teachers in my building what a wiki is. I have had several teachers ask me what a wiki is and I think this video does a better job than anything I have seen before. I think the video could also be shown to my students prior to starting a wiki in class.

What did we do this week that you can apply in your school or job and how might you use it?

This week I found so many different things useful I don't know where to begin. I really enjoyed reading the different articles that focused on Edublogs. I found myself spending a great deal of time viewing and reading different Edublogs. This is something that I really haven't done in the past because I just don't have time, so I'm glad that it was an assignment because it made me do this. I feel that because I took the time to find different blogs that I can use I will now be able to go back to them over and over again. I may even try to work in to my week a specific time that I set aside to review blogs. I put aside time for exercise, reading, family time, etc. I should be able to set aside time for educational blog reading as well. My favorite blog that I have found is http://theunquietlibrarian.wordpress.com/. I found so many of her post relevant to what I do on the job.

I also enjoyed looking at the best free web 2.0 because these are always changing and the teachers in my building are always looking for something new to incorporate into the lesson plans. I saw that some of my favorites were on the list, such as prezi, wordle, skype, Moodle, and Sweet Search. But it was great to see new tools. Gnowlege a test generator was a new tool to me, as well as ClassConnect where students can upload their work to share. Embedit.in also caught my eye because this seemed like a great tool when sharing documents. All of the sites that I was able to have access to will help me in job, so this week a great deal of what we did for class will be beneficial in my job.

How has our class and this week’s activities effected you in your professional life? Discuss two things that you have learned about this week.

This week's activities have effected my professional life greatly. I attended WEMTA and was able to gain a great deal of information and new knowledge that I am able to share with my staff and the students.

I have also gained a great deal from the peers in my class. I thought Megan's presenation on proper e-mail was great. I thought Katelyn and Mary Ann's lessons wwew really inforamtive to students when using reference materials. The screen casts by Dan and Jenny were great. Stacey had a great idea for showing kids genres. And I liked how Brian used a free encyclopedia to show students how to better search and included a web 2.0 tool in with it.
